Do This Every Day.

If you struggle with depression then this is what you should do to get you going and get you motivated.

Break your day down and try do 3 things every 5 hours. This is completely up to you.

Get to bed around the same time each night.

Set your alarm and WAKE up with your alarm😊.

Make tea / coffee / hot chocolate; put on your favourite tunes and take some time for you. During this time, write down three things you are grateful for.

Every morning when you wake up, pop up with as much vigour and energy that you can muster (you may have to force this). Don’t give yourself time to dwell... get dressed immediately. It could be for gym, walk the dog or any form of exercise. Or get dressed to go to varsity or the mall or a bookstore.

Just get dressed! Do your hair. Groom yourself attractively and do this quickly. Don’t give yourself time to talk yourself out of it. Act as if you feel great already and you know for a fact that you are leaving the house and you are going to have a great day.

At the very least... getting dressed and looking decent can go a long way in giving you a mental boost.

Go to varsity and speak to someone new. Serve them by this, eg Open the door for him/her, offer your chair/ buy an extra cappuccino at the garage and give one to someone who looks like they need it. Serving others will make them feel loved and make you feel great! Socializing is so important. Make a standing appointment with a mate once a week and get your mate to pick you up. This way you are held accountable to someone else.

Feel your feelings... Make friends with them, it's the only way through.

Open up to others that care (not everyone but the ones that truly care)

Meditate/ do something that quiets the thoughts that torment you.

Get mooooving... Endorphins!

Get outside, even if it's cold... Nature heals.

Treat and look after yourself. Self-love and self-care go a long way!

Give to people in need.

Give yourself credit for the progress you made, even if it seems tiny. Set small goals. Do what you can handle and be okay with that.

Live just for today and focus your attention and energy on today and nothing else. Be present and be where your feet are. Focus on one task at a time and do the next right thing.

Don’t give up 5 mins before the miracle. (“just when the caterpillar thought the world would end, it turned into a butterfly”)

The past has gone... nothing you can do about it! Let it go and focus on the now... not tomorrow or the next day, you won’t have strength for that but just the beautiful NOW. The now is ALWAYS as it should be.

Sometimes the questions in your head are really difficult but the answers are simple.

Take care of yourself and live the life you want to live by designing

every detail you possibly can. Don’t let the wrong things stand in

your way.

Don’t just be great... Be brilliant!
