Things I Want My Younger Self to Know

By LifeworX · July 31, 2017 · Advice

Young boy looking surprised.

  • You are going to feel insecure about yourself, because of what people say to you. Don’t let what people say to you affect how you see yourself.
  • You care way too much, or you say you don’t care. Stop saying you don’t care because you do. Change how you react to situations while you’re young.
  • When you make decisions, go with your gut.
  • Surround yourself with people you aspire to be like because people influence you very easily. Having mates you don’t like being around just to fit in will change you and you will hate who you are when you are older if you stay mates with them.
  • You trust people too quickly, be careful with who you trust. People can be two-faced and they will let you down.
  • Stop taking everything to heart! You need to harden up.
  • Don’t make stupid decisions when you know that what you are doing is stupid.
  • There are going to be situations that you know you can’t control. Don’t try to control them or get involved, because you’re only going to be upset in the end.
  • Don’t punish yourself for doing things wrong. Rather learn from your mistakes and make sure you don’t repeat what you did wrong in the first place.
  •  You can’t please everyone. If someone doesn’t like you, then that’s their problem, not yours.
  • You’re going to feel alone and like no-one would care if you weren’t here, but you aren’t alone, people care.
  •  You’re going to want to drink your problems away, but that won’t fix anything- so don’t.
  •  People are going to tell you that you are stupid and lazy; it’s going to hurt you because you know that you try, and you are trying to change that. Don’t let it break your progress.
  • You’re going to question your sexuality; you don’t need to label yourself just because you like someone of the same sex.
  • Smile. People like you more when you smile.
