Silly Season!

Woweeeeeeeeee! It is that time of year again - better known as silly season. I learnt about that a few years ago and got reminded about it every year thereafter. I am truly hoping that it gives me a miss this year.

Silly season, as I know it to be, is when there are more robberies, hijackings and just general misconduct. It's when the festive season is in sight and suddenly there is more crime. I feel that the levels of negativity in people tend to rise during this time of the year. Most probably because people are more tired and frustrated as a result of a long year.

I have also really tried to forget the experiences I have had and get the positive things back. Spending time with people I love and doing things that make me feel good is all part of this November's plan.

Stress management is vital at a time like this. Not allowing the negativity of others to bring you down isn’t always easy - but it is a choice. You need to find a gap to be yourself: the person that is proactive and one that takes action with the very things that you know will help you feel engaged and positive. Don't wait for the new year to start the decluttering process; start it now! Rather make a few mental decisions of what you need to change and find a way to bring it into your life. Please don’t scare the people around you with the changes you make but rather implement them slowly. It is always good to keep working on the changes gradually and consistently because you will need proof that they work.

There is always time for new beginnings, new ventures and especially new ways of thinking. So let your deadlines encourage and drive you, instead of having them upset and depress you, because without a driver in your life you will never get to where you need and want to be. Always be prepared to put in the effort even if, at times, it feels like fighting an uphill battle. Don’t give up on your dreams, hopes and desires!

Put your best foot forward and keep moving in the direction that you know will bring you the greatest joy. Willpower and discipline are practised... So practice the things that you want to be good at because you know what...? You will get very good at it!

Take time out and be spontaneous! Let the silly season mean something different this year! Be vigilant with your life because there is no one better employed for the job!
