It was noisy and as I knelt I heard nothing else but my pants splitting. Then you look around and wonder who heard and who is looking at me now that I've torn my pants. Wait, never mind who looks at me - who will be looking at my pans noticing the tear... Wow, this is all very funny!
This happened to me and at that split second, I had those thoughts. The rest of the moment I chatted with my colleagues, ignoring what had happened and just began smiling and laughing - after all it's just a TEAR IN MY PANTS! Now I am the type of person that will prepare an answer beforehand, just in case someone asks, “hey there is a hole in your pants” and so I had one locked and loaded: it was “it’s a bit hot and I felt, I could do with some fresh air”.
I attended a LifeworX workshop and “don't sweat the small stuff” was said in the workshop. It got me thinking: "these things happen; don’t let them destroy your day". When these things happen all that can really be done is to laugh. Who knows... you may just make everyone else around you laugh too! The only difference is they may not know why they are laughing or maybe they have also torn their pants...? At least you're not laughing alone. It’s just a pair of pants and it can be fixed; granted it won’t be the same but who cares? At least you are wearing a pair of pants because I'm pretty sure when you woke up this morning you wanted to leave the pair of pants hanging in your closet and be like, “nah, I don’t feel like putting on my big person pants today".
Laugh at the small thing! It happened. It’s done. Now how can you make the most of it? I learnt that you decide how situations affect you and how you choose to act on it. We could do with more laughing and less worrying about the small things...
