How Do You Stay Motivated?

I thought I would get down to figuring out what it takes us as people to stay motivated. It sure isn’t the same for us all. For me, it is that push from behind that drives me forward. To figure out what it is for me has been an interesting bit of information gathering and I have done it over a period of time. Writing things down, making notes and talking to others about what motivates them has helped me find what motivates me.

For me, it is a desire to get things done. How I got to know what I want was knowing what I didn't want. Sometimes the process of elimination is the easiest way to finding out what you really want. So being motivated is getting things done and not stopping for a minute until they are so. This could be material things or personal things that need attention

For example, I know that I need exercises for a few reasons.  Firstly I feel better when I get up and move around doing things or going for a walk, run.  I also understand that connected to that is the fact that I do get more done when I am feeling better about the effort I make during the day.  Pro active for me is one of the ways that makes me feel like I am actually not sitting around waiting for life to happen. However, it is easier to just chill but that is not what I need to make me feel like I am adding value to my health and mind.  So if it tough for you to get up and get going, do it anyway, because life rewards effort for sure.

Saving motivates me because I always have a plan of what I want to do with the money I am saving no matter how big or small it is.  For me, saving doesn’t mean not ever spending because spending money is the other motivator.  When I know that I have saved and there is a chance of spoiling myself or other people in my life it motivates me. So right there is my answer to being motivated to work.  Working hard needs motivation and having goals in my life to fulfill makes me excited to get up and calculate what it is I can get done during the day, the week and the month.

So motivation starts becoming easier to understand if you originally have a goal to reach and then knowing that it is possible to keep motivation at a high level.  Write down some of the things you want, make sure you start with smaller things and as you get more and more in control of your motivation the better you will get.  Once your motivation is working for you, you can begin to make bigger goals.  Getting up for work on a Monday morning is the same for everyone but the people who have goals and know what they want from life get up with vision and purpose.  It just makes getting up that much easier.

I have taught myself a very valuable lesson, and that is to make sure I impact, influence or inspire someone every day in one way or another.  No one can be motivated by someone who can't inspire them which means you cannot slack off for a minute.  I will say this again motivation is practiced over and over again.

So to sum up what motivation is to me and I hope you now.  Get up knowing what it is you want to accomplish in your day to day life that will inevitably make the life you are wanting to live.  Remember no one is going to do this for you.  My questions are:  Do you know what you want?  Do you know why you want it?  Do you have enough information to go out and get it?

That alone takes motivation!   So start somewhere and be consistent… You will see the more you know what you want the motivated you will be to go out and get it.
